Not So Novel began as the ‘not NaNoWriMo writing thing.’ In a lengthy email exchange, we found that we wanted to get into the habit of writing SOMETHING semi-regularly, without the length and format parameter. We also wanted to start a writing challenge that we might actually be able to sustain beyond one month. However, we liked the sense of structure and community of that NaNoWriMo had to offer.
So we’re doing this thing. Join in if you wish.
- Follow notsonovel.tumblr.com or @not_so_novel on Twitter to see writing prompts, which will be posted every other day
- You may use the writing prompts for inspiration if you wish—or not—just write
- Tweet a link to your writing (we will not host your writing, sorry) with the hashtag #notsonovel
- One of the not-so-novelists will keep an eye out for links posted to Twitter and post links to the Tumblr site
- Constructive criticism is encouraged but not necessary; those who do not wish to receive feedback should turn off comments on their writing posts
The first prompt will be posted on Wed, Nov 9.
